The Sophomore Year Experience (SYE) program was developed to help address the unique needs of second-year SSU students (and incoming transfer students) by promoting academic engagement, fostering focused exploration, and bridging the gap between the first year (or previous institution for incoming transfer students) and graduation.

Choosing a Major Workshop
Monday, February 2nd @ 1-3 pm
Student Center, Alexander Valley Room
A workshop focused on assisting students in defining their own interests, goals, and needs. Then helps them to apply those interests to picking a major that best fits and suits the students' needs and interests.
Sophomore Challenge Kickoff
Monday, February 2nd @ 6-8 pm
Beaujolais Meeting Room
Social gathering to kick off the weeks' events in the Beaujolais Meeting Room featuring several on campus resources for second year students, such as JUMP, the HUB, Study Abroad, Residential Life, U-Engage, and much more. Light refreshments will be served.

Each of the schools will be present to talk about the variety of majors and programs they have to offer; as well as the student clubs and organizations for each major and school to give students a chance to ask other students about specific majors and give them an opportunity to hear what a potential major may have to offer from faculty and staff. This will be split into two days:
Tuesday February 3rd will Arts and Humanities, Education/Hutchins, and the School of Business and Economics
Wednesday Feburary 4th will be Science and Technology and the School of Social Sciences.
Figure It Out: Drop In Advising for Sophomores
Wednesday, February 4th @ 2-4 pm
Drop in Advising time from 2-4 pm where there will be peer advisors and staff advisors available specifically for second year and sophomore students.
Sophomore Open Mic Night
Wednesday, February 4th @ 8-10 pm
SYE is joining together to present a Sophomore Open Mic Night in Lobo's on the first Wednesday of February. Come support your fellow sophomores and students in Lobo's. The first 50 people will get free pizza!
Thursday, February 5th @ 12-1 pm
Brought to you by Career Services in Salazar 1070, there will be a few students discussing their experiences in their internships and the benefits of doing an internship during undergrad and specifically as a sophomore.

Panel of senior students and alumni speaking about what they got involved in during their sophomore years and why the sophomore year is key and not too late to get involved.
