SSU Donation Days: Spring Cleaning For a Cause!

As we near the end of the semester and get ready for move out, it’s time to start thinking about what items you no longer need or want and can donate. Goodwill and Redwood Empire Food Bank will be taking donations on-campus on Friday, May 12 & Saturday, May 13 from 9am-2pm in F Parking Lot (across from Ives Hall near East Cotati Avenue). SSU Donation Days is open to all students on and off campus as well as staff, faculty and the local community.

Giveaways:

Students will receive a raffle ticket for donating and will be entered to win great prizes such as Giants Tickets, Southwest Gift Card, Restaurant Gift Cards, Visa Gift Cards, Gas Gift Cards and much more! Double tickets will be given away during the Donation Happy Hour from 12-1pm on both days and will include free pizza too.

Items Accepted:

Goodwill: Clothing, shoes, handbags/backpacks/luggage, bedding, household items, small appliances, rugs, books, laptops (working or not), etc. For more information visit: https://gire.org/menus/items-to-donate.html

Redwood Empire Food Bank: Non-perishable food (this means unopened/used items like cereal, pasta, canned food, etc.). These items should be able to last a long time without having to go in the fridge/freezer. For more information visit: http://refb.org/food-funds-drive/drop-off-locations/

Note: For on-campus residents, ask your CSA or go to the Service desks to get some free large garbage bags for clothing items.

Additional Donation Bins:

Please note that there are Goodwill bins in the Residential Halls year round for donations outside of this donation day’s event. Bin locations include: Tuscany village next to the community building, Beaujolais village at the corner of the Madeira building, Sauvignon village between Marsanne and Grenache and in Zinfandel/Verdot villages parking lot towards the high school baseball fields.

Cause for SSU Donation Days:

The more donation that are received equals more money that Goodwill will be able to donate to students who are a part of the Seawolves Scholars Foster Youth Program. The goal of the Seawolf Scholars Foster Youth Program is to increase the academic and personal success of motivated and inspiring foster youth enrolled at Sonoma State University.
