LOBOFEST: The Big Cat Night

The Big Cat Night @ SSU is back! ASP continues one of SSU’s biggest traditions this spring! This educational showcase exhibits exotic feline animals that are coming straight to campus from the Wild Cat Education and Conservation Fund. They work to increase awareness of the impact of human behavior on the habitat and survival of the 36 wild cat species. Save the date right meow, it’s going to be a purr-fect evening with our feline friends! If you want to learn more, check out their website.

LOBOFEST: Make It and Take It Craft Night

Make it and Take It Craft Night is back by popular demand!

Join us and get your craft on as we head into the New Year. All craft supplies will be provided and all you need to do is show up, come collaborate with other creatives and bring your masterpieces home with you at the end of the night. This year’s crafts are a secret but, last year’s crafts included create your own Ceramic Painting, succulent planting, word art, jewelry, and more. One hint is we have a lot of “fluff” to use up this year!

LOBOFEST: Screening: Sorry to Bother You w/ Director Boots Riley

Boots Riley is a provocative and prolific poet, rapper, songwriter, producer, screenwriter, director, community organizer, and public speaker. Boots Riley wrote and directed Sorry to Bother You, a comedy-fantasy sci-fi film, in his directorial debut. It stars Lakeith Stanfield, Armie Hammer, Tessa Thompson, Steven Yeun, Jermaine Fowler, Omari Hardwick and Terry Crews. The film premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Fest and opened to strong critical acclaim in theaters nationwide later in 2018. He is the lead vocalist of The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club. Fervently dedicated to social change, Boots was deeply involved with the Occupy Oakland movement. He was one of the leaders of the activist group The Young Comrades. He is the author of the critically acclaimed Tell Homeland Security-We Are the Bomb.

Welcome gamers to Glitched: SSU Gaming Tournament! Put your gaming skills to the test in the ultimate competition where the best gamers will walk away with amazing prizes and bragging rights. Games included are Madden 19, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and Soul Caliber VI. Tournament participation is free, just bring your SSU ID card. Raffles will be held throughout the event.  Signups from 5PM – 5:45PM (No sign ups once the tournament begins) Tournament begins at 6 PM. Are you up for the Challenge?

Game Rules: All tournament play is set up as Single-Elimination Brackets.

Interested in trying something new? Come join this welcoming and supportive community of fellow students to showcase your interests and talents. Interested in stand-up or slam poetry, singing or magic tricks? Now is your time to shine.

Seawolves Got Talent is back and giving students a chance to share their talents with fellow Seawolves and a shot at winning awesome prizes! To sign up fill out the following form online.

Audition deadline is Friday, January 25th. Only the top 10 submissions will be chosen to perform with a maximum performance time of 10 minutes. 1st Place: $250, 2nd Place $100, 3rd Place $50.
