Do you have an interest in marketing, public relations, social media, and advertising? Sonoma State University Entrepreneurial Activities marketing department is looking for students who want to work on-campus and grow their marketing skills while also sharing their creative ideas. You will get hands-on experience while also learning the ins and outs of marketing. The positions are for the 2018-2019 school year with room to work this summer.


Communications Coordinator

We are looking for a communications student assistant who can crank out emails, blog posts, video scripts and press releases without even trying.

Responsibilities:

  • Write copy, project manage and distribute communication materials including: emails through Constant Contact for Seawolf Living, maintain Seawolf Living website (event info, blog posts), video scripts, marketing materials, and press releases
  • Assist with maintenance on department websites
  • Act as a brand steward, upholding Seawolf Living brand standards and consistency in all communication and marketing projects
  • Create communication calendars and timelines
  • Track marketing communication analytics and measure effectiveness
  • Assist with videos including being on-screen talent
  • Assist with other communication duties as needed
  • Work on additional projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Marketing communications experience in copywriting or PR preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. Must be able to write, proofreading and edit copy with correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Attention to detail and possess excellent organizational skills
  • Results driven, proactive and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) preferred but not required
  • Positive attitude accompanied by the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to expand skill set and gain real-world marketing experience

Marketing Assistant

We are looking for a project management student assistant who enjoys organization, deadlines and wants to help keep a team on track.

The Marketing Assistant will work closely with the Entrepreneurial Activities Marketing Specialist on daily marketing project management and operations for 12 departments. In addition, the assistant will support the marketing team with various marketing activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Run day-to-day marketing operations including but not limited to creating calendars, communicating with staff and material ordering/delivery
  • Undertaking daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department marketing activities
  • Assist with the management and scheduling of content for the Student Center digital signage system and LoboVision
  • Track marketing analytics and measure effectiveness and make recommendations for future implementation
  • Assist team as needed with: social media content creation, edits to graphics (flyers, posters, banners, etc.) and write content for blog posts and video scripts
  • Assist with videos including being on-screen talent
  • Work on additional projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Marketing experience preferred
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Take a leadership role on projects and be able to work independently
  • Ability to provide feedback to stakeholders and peers
  • Work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) preferred but not required
  • Positive attitude accompanied by the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Marketing Operations and Communications Coordinator

We are looking for a communications student assistant that can write content for social media, emails, and press releases, as well as project manage like no one else.

Responsibilities:

Communications:

  • Social media management and content creation of a broad calendar (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)   
  • Write copy and distribute communication materials including emails, collateral, website updates,  blog posts, and press releases
  • Assist with videos including being on-screen talent

Operations:

  • Project manager for marketing initiatives including planning, scheduling, and implementation
  • Run day-to-day marketing operations including but not limited to creating calendars, communicating with staff and material ordering/delivery
  • Work directly with student programmers, full-time staff and marketing staff to determine marketing needs and provide constant communication on all projects
  • Track marketing analytics and measure effectiveness and make recommendations for future implementation
  • Assist graphic designer with updates on promotional materials (flyers, posters, banners, etc.)
  • Work on additional projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Marketing communications experience in copywriting, social media, or PR preferred
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Additional Information

  • Average hours: 16-20 hours per week
  • Starting Wage: $11.50 per hour with room for advancement in the future
  • Work Location: Entrepreneurial Activities Marketing Department in the Student Center
  • Office Operating Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm, note: some hours outside of office hours may be needed to attend campus events
