Do you have an interest in marketing, public relations, and communications? Sonoma State University Entrepreneurial Activities marketing department is looking for a student who wants to work on-campus and grow their marketing and communication skills while also sharing their creative ideas. You will get hands-on experience while also learning the ins and outs of marketing and communications.

This position is a part of the marketing team for Entrepreneurial Activities, which provides marketing and communication services for Entrepreneurial Activities departments included but not limited to University Culinary Services, Conference & Event Services, Box Office, Campus Prints, Seawolf Living and WolfBucks and a few of the Student Affairs departments including Student Involvement, Housing & Residential Life.

Marketing Communications Coordinator

We are looking for a student assistant who loves to write and wants to create emails, blog posts, video scripts and press releases.

Responsibilities:

  • Write copy, project manage and distribute communication materials including: weekly emails through Constant Contact, manage and update Seawolf Living website, write blog posts (3-5 per week), video scripts, marketing materials, department websites and press releases

  • Create marketing and communication calendars and timelines

  • Track marketing communication analytics and measure effectiveness

  • Act as a brand ambassador for Seawolf Living to help raise brand awareness

  • Assist with department videos including being on-screen talent

  • Assist with social media content creation

  • Assist with other communication duties as needed

  • Work on additional projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Marketing communications experience in copy writing or PR preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication. Must be able to write, proofreading and edit copy with correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.

  • Strong project management skills

  • Attention to detail and possess excellent organizational skills

  • Results driven, proactive and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision

  • Work well under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) preferred but not required

  • Positive attitude accompanied by the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Desire to expand skill set and gain real-world marketing experience

Additional Information

  • Average hours: 16-18 hours per week

  • Starting wage: $11.50 per hour with room for advancement in the future

  • Office hours of operation and work hours must fall in-between Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm. Note: some hours outside of office hours may be needed to attend campus events for social media.
