Community Garden at SSU

Did you know that we have a community garden in Sirah in the Sauvignon residential village?

The RC Organic Community Gardens were christened October 23, 2014 as a part of Sustainability Week. Residents are able to reserve a plot for the entire academic year. Residents are responsible for all maintenance: watering, weeding, and harvesting.  The university has provided plants, beds, tools, and instruction/training by the SSU Gardeners.  There are 12 plots total and 4 are still available!  Some of the delicious items already planted include spinach, chard, bush peas, arugula, lettuce, and broccoli!

A big thanks go out to Sam Youney and Denise Marquez of Facilities who created the gardens and to Julia Rose and Stacey Murray of Residential Life who manage the Community Garden project!

Be sure to head over and check out this new community garden!
