International Education Week: November 17-21

The Center for International Education (SSALI, Study Abroad, NSE, WIVA) along with International Education and Exchange Counsel are excited to present International Education Week, happening November 17-21.

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. - See more at online!

Here is a full list of events happening on-campus:

Monday November 17th 
11am-12pm: Study Abroad Info Meeting (International Hall 107)

12pm-1pm: SSALI Student International Expo (International Hall Lobby)
Sonoma State American Language Institute (SSALI) students are here at SSU solely to learn English! For the Expo, students will be setting up displays to share with the campus on their home countries. From 12-1PM on Monday and Wednesday, the SSALI students will be at their displays, so please stop by to ask questions and interact! (Displays will be up all of International Education Week, so please feel free to stop by!)

2pm-3pm: Study Abroad Application Workshop (International Hall 107)

7pm-10pm: International Jeopardy! (Ives 101) 
How well do you know your world?? Come show off your international knowledge! Get a team together and come to Center for International Education to sign up! There will be some awesome prizes so don't miss out! 
 

Tuesday November 18th
12pm-1pm: Bilingual Lecture (Stevenson Hall 1002)
Spanish Professor Robert Train will be giving a talk "The Right to Speak Our Minds and Our Languages: Toward an Ethics of Multilinguism in School and Society." Tuesday from 12pm-1pm in Stevenson Hall room 1002. Don't miss out!

3pm-4pm: Study Abroad Info meeting (International Hall 107)

7pm-9pm: Go Global Fest (Student Center Ballroom B)
Are you interested in going abroad!? Want to come learn more about the countries or states you will be studying in next year!? Come to Go Global Fest for mingling, country panels, performances, and a good time!


Wednesday November 19th
9am-10am: Study Abroad Application Workshop (International Hall 107)

12pm-1pm: IEEC/SSALI Coffee and Culture Social 
Stop by for a very special Coffee & Culture Hour! In honor of International Education Week, we will be celebrating the International Students and Scholars here at SSU!

3pm-4pm: Study Abroad Application Workshop (International Hall 107)

5pm-11pm: IEEC Lobo's Fundraiser 
Continuing the fun of International Education Week, come out to Lobo's for some dinner! All of the raised proceeds will go to International Education and Exchange Counsel at Sonoma State University.
 

Friday November 21st
12pm-1pm: Financing your Study Abroad Experience Workshop
Come attend the workshop to get more information and pointers for financing your study abroad experience!
