Peer Mentors
Support new student transitions by:

  • Creating Community and Fostering relationships within the classroom
  • Introducing Students to Campus Resources
  • Promoting understanding of differences, diversity, and the Seawolf Commitment

Types of Peer Mentor Positions:
HLCs (Arts & Humanities Learning Community)
STRETCH
ACE (Academic & Career Exploration Living Community)
MOSAIC (Making Our Space an Inclusive Community)
FYE (First Year Experience)
EOP (Educational Opportunity Program)

Summer Bridge Leaders

  • Help ease transition from high school to college for First Generation college students.
  • Assist with activities (pool time, annual EOP summer bridge dance, etc.), workshops and ongoing support alongside their EOP Academic Advisor.

 

Orientation Leaders

  • Welcome new students to SSU
  • Work with small groups of incoming freshmen to discuss transition to college, share resources, answer questions, and tour the college
  • Represent SSU and provide a 1st impression for most new students
  • Support students’ transitions into college and comfort on campus

Timeline:

  • Applications go live on November 2nd
  • Priority Registration begins on November 11th  - have 70% of application complete for priority registration into UNIV 238
  • Applications must be completed and submitted by 4:30pm on February 5th
