In Your Shoes Project
The In Your Shoes Project, part of SSU’s Mental Health Awareness Week March 2nd-6th, is an exhibition of 1,100 pairs of donated shoes, representing the 1,100 students who die by suicide each year. This exhibit is designed to raise awareness about the incidence and impact of suicide, connect students to needed mental health resources, and inspire action for suicide prevention.
We Need Your Help
We need your help by donating new or gently used shoes to the project. The collected shoes will be used in the exhibition during Mental Health Awareness Week March 2nd—6th, and will then be donated to Soles4Souls (soles4souls.org). You can drop off your shoe donations at 1) SSU CAPS (Stevenson 1088), 2) the Associated Students Office (2nd Floor Student Center) or 3) any SSU Residential service desk. For large shoe donations, monetary donations or if your club or organization is interested in collecting shoes, please contact Dr. Joe Puentes at firstname.lastname@example.org or call CAPS at 707-664-2153.
Share Your Story. Have an Impact.
If you have been impacted by suicide in your life, we invite you to submit your story (1 page) along with your donation to be placed next to a pair of shoes. If you have a picture of the person you are writing about, you can send it along with your story to Dr. Joe Puentes, at email@example.com or drop it off with your donation at SSU CAPS.
End the silence, honor the loss, have an impact.
