Staying Healthy in College

Late nights, tons of homework, and new adventures tends to keep people pretty busy when you head to college but that doesn’t mean that you can let your health take a back seat! Sonoma State has tons of services available to keep you healthy and happy all year long.

1. Don’t forget to eat!
Students frequently get so busy that they forget to eat…no, seriously, this happens all the time. So make sure to actually schedule time to have good meals that fill you up and give you the energy you need to get through all of your classes. Are you worried you won’t have time to cook for yourself? Check out the meal plans that are available to you!

2. Stay active!
The Rec Center is open early in the morning and late at night so you can always fit a work out into your schedule. Bored of the machines? The InMotion classes give you the chance to work out with others and get in a good work out. You can also head over to the swimming pool to do some laps!

3. Get enough sleep!
Scheduling is going to become crucial for a successful semester and that can even extend to your sleep pattern. Find a reasonable time to go to sleep and wake up and stick to it…even on the weekends. This will make it easier for you to know when it’s time to get up and get your day going and when it’s time to relax.

4. Take care of your mind too!
Being healthy doesn’t just mean eating well and working out, you also want to make sure you’re taking care of your mind too. CAPS is available to help you ease into being a college student and they can even provide one-on-one or group therapy when needed.
