The HUB's Upcoming Events

The HUB has many reoccurring events, which are listed below. The HUB stands for Honoring the past, Uniting in the present, and Building for the future. We are an integral center of diversity, vitality, and creativity. Diversity means that our efforts are focused on ways that different people live their lives and the ways that communities can benefit from social change. Vitality means that strive for the most livable lives and support all students in creating a community in which they are safe, successful, and thriving. Creativity means that we offer a variety of different ways of expression, education, and engagement. The HUB is a center with colorful couches for hanging out, a growing library for exploring ideas, a conference room for discussion and meetings, a food friendly area, and welcoming student assistants that are looking to connect the SSU community with passion for social change.

Treats and Trending Topics

Bring your lunch to The HUB for discussion and great company!

Want to talk about Trump running for president? Or the #Blacklivesmatter movement? Treats & Trending Topics is a space where our community can participate in a discussion of a wide array of topics that may, or not be, on our radar! These monthly discussions are a way to build a community that is interested in getting to know more about popular culture and trending topics. Treats and topics will be provided. But feel free to come ready with your own topics that are relevant to our monthly themes!

SPOKE

A monthly space where people in the SSU community can come to listen to one another and share their talents (and the stage) with brilliant, established poets in the national poetry community. No stage, no mic, no speakers, just comfy couches, excited and captivated audience, and a platform to share and listen to stories. It starts with a community discussion about a certain topic, then a community open mic, then the featured poet. SPOKE is our chance to foster creative and artistic expression while establishing a culture of honesty, compassion, respect and change. All performers are welcome! Bring something to share and be ready to let SSU surprise you.
