After finals it's time to head home for winter break… Although we’ve missed our families, most of us have probably missed the luxury of a full fridge, comfy bed and our favorite spot on the big couch in front of the TV. While winter break is for relaxing and catching up on your Netflix watch list, there are ways to stay healthy! Here is a list of workouts that you can do from the comfort of your own home (feel free to continue your Netflix binge while doing them, we won’t judge!)
1. Cardio… Kinda
Cardio. Everyone’s least favorite workout word. Ever heard of HIIT? HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training and is cardio’s more liked cousin. Its high speed, torches calories and beats running on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Here’s a 12-minute version that you can customize for your preferences!
Maybe yoga is more your style. DoYogaWithMe is a website that offers FREE online classes and videos for all levels (We repeat: FREE). Definitely worth checking out, even if you’re a first timer.
3. Bodyweight Exercises
Not having access to a full set of dumb bells and barbells may be frustrating, but your workout routine doesn’t need to suffer, it just needs to get creative! There are ways to use your own bodyweight to your advantage! Here are 50 of them to choose from. (you can thank us later)
4. Chair Workout
When you look at a chair you see something to sit in. This video will show you that a chair is really a great opportunity for a unique workout! With 10 moves you can easily get in a great workout.
5. Other Tips
So lets say that maybe after 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5…) seasons on Netflix, that you do want to leave the house over break. Here are some great tips for those on a budget to get in a workout.
