What to Expect for Freshman Year

Welcome class of 2020! We are so excited you chose Sonoma State! Here are a few things to expect Freshman Year.

If you haven't already been to our beautiful campus, then welcome! Orientation is the place to learn everything about academics, campus programs and services, as well an opportunity to meet staff, faculty, and other students of your class! Learn everything you need to know about our campus and programs to help prepare for your first day in the fall.

Room Assignments

Room assignments are emailed to your student Sonoma email account toward the middle of July! We recommend reaching out to your roommate/suite mates to get to know each other and to plan for the fall accordingly. This helps to coordinate who will bring what for your dorm! Then get excited to meet everyone, because move in weekend will be here faster than you know!

Move in Weekend

Mark your calendars, move in weekend is August 20-21! Make sure to check your housing information to find out your move in time. From 9 AM- 4 PM you will be able to pick up your textbooks at the University Store as well as your student ID and parking permit at Seawolf Services. After, join us for the Family BBQ from 4-6 PM on Person Lawn!

First Day of Class

Instruction begins Tuesday August 23rd! Don't be nervous, if you need help finding a class stop and ask someone!

Getting Involved

There are hundreds of clubs and organizations on campus, meaning there is one bound to capture your interest! Getting involved is a great way to meet new people and get adjusted to the campus!
