Aguacero and Bay Area Bomba y Plena Workshop will be facilitating the final workshop of a 3-day speaker series that will include a musical demonstration and lecture about traditional Puerto Rican music, dance and its historical and cultural relevance while also exploring the roots of Bomba, as well as Plena, as two distinct musical genres. Dialogue will also include how these genres are and were used as a form of empowerment and resistance within oppressed and colonized communities and as a way towards community health and healing.
