Spring Cleaning 101

Spring is near, and you know what that means….spring cleaning! Use this as an excuse to spend a little extra time to clean your space, declutter your schoolwork, and clear your mind! Let’s take a look at some tips that you can use this spring while you clean!

Declutter First

Before you dust, vacuum, or clean surfaces, declutter your space! By getting rid of stuff you don't need, you're reducing stress, boosting your productivity, and clearing your mind. Plus let's be real, it just feels good to have some order in your life. So, why not give it a shot? You might be surprised at how much better you feel with a little less clutter around!

Clean Your Cleaning Supplies

Most don’t think to do this step, but it’s actually one of the most important. So before you start your cleaning maybe it’s a good idea to stop and take a look at your old supplies. It’s no good to be spreading more dust, dirt, and grime around your space in the name of cleaning! Change your vacuum filter, disinfect all your cleaning brushes and washcloths, and/or replace some of your tools for a better overall result!

Don’t Forget To Dust

Dusting might seem like a basic chore to put on your spring cleaning list, but have you skipped this step thinking you could just get it with a wet wipe? Well that my friend is a recipe for disaster because that will just make it spread and clump up. Ceiling fans, air vents, window blinds, counters, picture frames, bookshelves, light fixtures, mirrors, and baseboards should all be on your list! If your dusting is typically a quick once-over, use this time to move trinkets and clear clutter, making this deep clean count! Also, one extra tip is to use different vacuum attachments to reach hard-to-dust spaces.

Disinfect EVERYTHING

We know what you’re thinking, this tip is a no-brainer! Well, what we mean by everything is disinfect things around you that you don’t think to disinfect on a day-to-day basis. Take the time to disinfect your desk supplies, bathroom supplies, appliances, keyboards, computer mice, doorknobs, cabinet handles, light switches, remotes, electronics, and anything else that’s frequently touched.

Organize!

Some of the best tips for spring cleaning and organizing involve tackling cluttered storage spaces and surfaces! They tend to get stuffed and topped with items that don’t have a home or with things you want to keep out of sight (but are IN sight), so organizing your spaces is a must!

Hope this reminded you to deep clean this spring, Seawolves!
